For over a decade the style setting glamazonian princess otherwise know as J-Nett has provided Australia's finer dancefloors with an inimitable underground sound truly defying any categorization ... in any one set this woman seamlessly switches from dub to disco, house to hip hop, reggae to rock and then rides back though this galactic disco wormhole with a kid gloved finesse like no other - better than Joh Bailey stylishly snipping at Kerri Ann's super blonde space mop. She also runs one of the tightest record stores in town, check it out at http://www.hearnow.net.au/. Tracklisting Hear Now Mix: Mokbel Mix: |

The original Troubleman, one half of Global Communications and now masquerading as both Harmonic 33 and 313, Mark Pritchard is one of the most incredible producers of electronic music on the planet. He has an ear for space and tone and texture and his beats range from beautiful and succinct to rough and rugged. This set of filthy, monstrous dubstep was recorded before at Void in Sydney in early september. Benga was the guest of honour and this one hour is Mark's warmup for him. Check out Mark's myspace here |

Being a die-hard fan of Richard and Declan I of course wanted to impress them with my taste in music. After weeks of shuffling tracks around, and keeping my house-mate awake i recorded a mix. Then my computer crashed. Depression set in. A relocation to my brothers house and his "Ghetto-Sled Studios", very appropriately named as can be heard from the occaisional earth buzz and average mix (just picture brother / sister banter at these moments) it was completed. Being a hopeless romantic i chose some of my favourite tried and tested romancing tunes, on to the beats that make me jump on my bed with fists punching the air, a short trip to the Carribean and a croon out of there. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do and that this mix can be used as a romancing tool for all candleit dinners and long drives to bed and breakfasts. Ms Butt. Tracklist: |

Misha Hollenbach is no stranger to research & development having contributed a number of cult mixes with phil ransom. One quiet sunday night in the early days of December 2007, Misha guested on Michael Kucyk's 'Noise In My Head' radio show which follows on from Declan's on 3RRR. For 90 minutes with no back announcing in sight, Misha, aka Brian Damage, pleasured the ears of the RRR listenershhip with this incredible selection of cosmic disco, balearic beats, space funk, acid and ethno electro. What can we say? Open your ears and take a journey out into the out where. Incredible.< |

Well this is could well be the definition of long awaited return. The "Get A Room" mix is a favourite of ours and r&d subscribers. Shanghai Surprise is altogether a more beat oriented affair but still features the same attention to detail where the programming and mixing is concerned. Soundtracks, jazz, latin, hip hop, soul and afro rhythms collide in the kind of delicious sonic melange that only mr geoffrey and the wizard franzke could create. |

Nick - head honcho of Milan's premier funk, soul and influences label Record Kicks - dropped through Australia earlier this year delivering some of the smoothest sets of the good stuff you're likely to hear. And let's set the record straight. Nick is a collectors collector. One of those guys who can talk endlessly about music most people - even those in the know - wouldn't have a clue about. At home digging through piles of 45s and completely prepared to hand over astounding amounts of money for the super soulful and super-rare-as-fuck ones he finds (he has a list the length of the Koran in his head). Thank-god for diggers like Nick. When asked if he could kindly deliver a mix of such tunes for our humble repository of music, he obliged in fine style, with this mix of new and old funk and soul 45s. Enjoy.

As one of Melbourne's best drum'n'bass producers and DJs under the moniker Motive, it was a pleasant and not complete surprise when Dan Feary started busting out music of a more four-to-the-floor bent. For this he took on a new moniker, Loot, and started playing around most of the slicker venues in Melbourne, regularly dropping his own bootlegs and generally impressing the collective asses of Melbourne. He very kindly responded to our request for some good shit (in fact he was the first to do so) for this issue. Enjoy.

Hailing from the nefarious low-slung dutch label Rushhour Records in the heart of Amsterdam - Cinnaman popped over to Melbourne recently for the first term of the Red Bull Music Academy. As well as being a lovely young lad he also knows how to put together a sweet mix of wonky rhythms, nu-soul jams, future hip-hop and broken beats. This beautiful mix was compiled for Kindred Spirits Radio and it has been bouncing around Richard's ipod for some months now. Check it. And check Cinnaman's myspace for playlist and more. Cinnaman has just released a compilation with Steve Spacek's DJ Jay Scarlett on Rushhour called "Beat Dimensions". For a look at the 12" click here. Listening to this collection of songs lovingly mixed by Darshan Jesrani and Morgan Geist, it's not hard to see where the inspiration for Metro Area's music comes from. Recorded live in Chicago, this is one hour and 2 minutes of disco, boogie, electro and proto techno that your ears will thank you for. |
