welcome to issue 3. we've all been working hard for the red bull music academy here in melbourne and we be owned! so we have slipped straight into october with only a brief stop-over in september. anyway, spring has slipped and sprung through the back door and bathes our city in white light and warm days that can not make their minds to be still or to bluster and buffet those who bravely bicycle.
But there is far more to this than wind and weather. Our favourite disco diva Daniel Wang is playing at Trough on the 29th followed by Revolver Upstairs, same night as The Crayon Fields launch their debut album Animal Bells at the Spanish Club and some puppetry for adults begins at the malthouse. Ariel Pink is playing at the East Brunswick club on the 27th and Animal Collective are coming to town for on cup eve which should be a great gig.
DJ's and music gurus from all o'er the globe are coming south pacific for the Red Bull Music Academy which starts on the 24th and Kano's designed a guide to the action which is floating about the streets with contributions from some local artists. You can read an account of declan's time at rbma in the features section.
On the gallery side of life we're featuring the works of english aussie Nicholas Hutcheson who has made some amazing work with Chile's Chinchorro mummies as inspiration. There's also new mixes from Recloose, a feature on melbourne internet radio station Straightup.com.au, an Arthur Russell special and a look at the new Dilla album 'The Shining'. R.I.P
